Caring Connections Update…As many of you know, the funding that NHPCO has received over the past four years from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation has concluded. The good news is that Caring Connections is not going away! NHPCO’s investment in helping consumers learn about and plan for end-of-life care continues –- and Caring Connections will continue to provide information and referrals to consumers via the HelpLine (800/658-8898) and Caringinfo.org Web site.
The wealth of outreach materials created during the past four years to help hospices, coalitions and communities reach out to and educate consumers about end-of-life care are all on the Web site. And NHPCO will continue to develop new outreach materials and distribute them to NHPCO members in the annual Outreach Guide.
Caring Connections is in process of implementing a national grant to help employers support working caregivers. Specifically, we will create a national network of NHPCO member hospices and coalitions who will receive training and resources to implement the It’s About How You LIVE—At Work resources in their community. More information about this exciting opportunity will be available soon so stay tuned for updates in NHPCO’s weekly e-newsletter, NewBriefs.
Please continue to promote Caring Connections in your outreach work and call or email us if you have questions or ideas. NHPCO is grateful for all the support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and thanks all of you for the work you are doing to promote end-of-life issues in your communities. Keep up the great work!
Last issue of Connections… As we work to scale down our operations with the end of our major grant funding, this is the last issue of Connections. For archive editions, visit www.caringinfo.org.
